curious cat (feat. ali micháe)

this song is about me being curious. it's a very direct song, with this being the part of my identity that always begs for more information and wants to understand everything. in many aspects of my life, being my musical, educational, romantic and interpersonal experiences, my curiousity can be my achilles heel. it's the part of me that i simultaneously love and feel pride for, while also finding it frustrating and hard to let go of.

i've been this way since i was young. i used to ask my parents "what does ___" mean until i'd get to a ridiculous question: "what does what does mean?" this would often frustrate my parents to no end, they'd feel that i loved to argue. and to some extent i did like to argue, but i think it stemmed from my ultimate curiousity, not my desire to feel superior to others. we all desire to feel superior in some form or another, but this part of me that's existed since childhood formed out of a genuine curiousity. even if it isolates me from the world as an adult sometimes, i still want to understand why these things are the way they are. not to be the hero, but to find peace within myself.

i also find it fun. i don't like being scared of information. regardless, shoutout ali for the background vocals. she added a much needed texture to a song that i wanted to sound like a toybox. her vocals make me think of the gentle songs that would be in the backgrounds of games like kirby's epic yarn, or some of the vocals that tyler the creator would use in his albums. it's epic.
