mephisto

mephisto is an anthem that i wrote about accepting one's evil. it's kind of the central song of this entire album, which is why i placed it smack dab in the middle. it details my whole journey, from burning through the rope, to realizing that our reality is a circle that we could only begin to imagine escaping. however, there is a sort of catharsis this brought me. mephistopheles is king of the demons, a name in folklore that has been passed around many times, and isn't really tethered to a specific religion. it's more in folklore. it's also in marvel comics, and unfortunately the mcu now lol.

i based this song on the idea of my musical ability coinciding with a demonic presence that has followed me since i was a child. i'm very familiar with it, and it has the benefit of me not being so controlled by it. i feel like we occasionally work together, out of their fascination for me, and my awareness of them. but simultaneously, it may grant them easier access to my psyche, giving life to some of the more negatively themed tracks that you've seen thus far.

i try to describe my story as honestly as possible, no matter how crazy or messed up it may make me seem. there are parts of my thought process that i'll never be able to fully put into words on this site, but maybe this album can get some of it across. i'm aware of my flaws and i created this album so i could leave this part of my life and try to make something new.
