i'm god

despite what the title of this song may suggest, this is not actually about narcissism, unlike truly. this song has more to do with realizations similar to mephisto. a lot of the friends i grew up with were indoctrinated, brainwashed, and honestly very terrible people. white boys that grew up in a way that praised a lack of empathy, and rewarded a lord of the flies type competition between everyone. some of them committed crimes against me in my house. this is all necessary background for why the hook of the song is: "i'm just tryna layup on my day ones, punch em in the face if they say sum".

I wanted to turn the concept of 'day ones' on its head, as with many rap songs, artists reference that concept in a positive light. not every day one you have is a good friend, for many people, most of your day ones will be lost to shitty ethics and inconsistent actions. we all are imperfect, but we are also built in god's image. alot of these white boys are godless.

the main reason i named this song "i'm god", is because we are all god. i personally believe that god is the machinations of all life on earth, seemingly moving independently from each other, but in actuality, they move globally for a purpose. god is a tree, and we are his leaves. we fall and wither, but the tree continues. maybe our consiousness is a purposeful choice from god, wanting to understand the perspective of his leaves.
