frankenstein (feat. hrshyboy)

track #

12

date

august 24, 2025

frankenstein is the culmination of every thought i've ever had. i am frankenstein, a creature born of the technological era, with my body composition changed by microplastics. i grew up introverted and played video games, and as a result i think that altered my body as well. but ultimately, i was an overweight child. i was insecure about my weight for a long time, and my body, which led to a guilt cycle that never ended. this is frankenstein, a combination of factors that made me feel like my body was built from scraps, was deformed and ridden with flaws, and ultimately, abused from my own bad choices.

it's a song about body dysmorphia, but also on a grander scale, something that speaks to the world we live in. i am not the only child out there who felt like frankenstein. the world we live in is not equipped to help with these feelings, because i think these feelings are genuine. sometimes you hate your body, and you don't know why, and it doesn't feel good to be told that you're beautiful, and that your feelings are wrong. sometimes i want to remember that i was born in a time where the world overstimulates children and doesn't help them navigate the endless woes of consumption.

there's a beauty in accepting the monster within me, and i wanted Sasha to demonstrate that beauty. i think she did. the instrumental is also somewhat frankensteined, with drum samples and instruments all over the place. my friend jackson handled the guitar riff that the entire song is built upon. my brother, gabriel, did some jazzy guitar stuff that i sampled in the middle, and at the end. my friend cade also played bass that i sampled in the slow section. i wanted this song to truly emulate the feeling of being put together from various pieces.
